About – Clearly Random

(Original and Vague “About” Page Information) I may put something more here at some point in the future. For now, we are a Family of September 11th. We are the parents of a two year old who spent the first few weeks of his life in the NICU. We are the soon to be parents of a baby with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. We’ve been to a few dark places where no one should be forced to go, and we have a few more yet to see.

(Update – 17 October 2007) When I started this webpage I assumed it would only be used by family and friends who are spread all over the country. We were not using our real names in the blog as we had a calendar for my parents to let them know when we needed them to take care of our son so we could go to appointments. This would also tell others when we would not be home and we did not want to make it too easy for someone to find our house when we were out. Now that we are no longer using the calender to track appointments there are no more concerns associated with the calendar. Daphne is the username my wife, Heather, has used since college. Clearly Random is the name I adopted when I created this site.

The original, original intention, (that was two intentions ago) was to just use this site to post pictures of Douglas and and his soon to be arriving sibling. At the time we did not know about CDH or even that his sibling was to be a she. Just that a sibling was coming.

To elaborate on the original “About” information above. On September 11th, 2001 my sister, Jessica Leigh Sachs, was killed when American Airlines Flight 11 was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Three years later, our son Douglas Warren decided he did not want to wait for his November due date and showed up 8 weeks early. He did very well in the NICU requiring very little support. Mostly he needed to learn to eat, once that was done we were able to take him home. So we have previous NICU experience. Now, Three more years later, our daughter Sabrina Danielle has been born with a left side congenital diaphragmatic hernia.  Her stay in the NICU will definitely eclipse her brothers.

So, that’s it for now. We just don’t seem to be capable of doing things the easy way in this family.
